Since Netflix's extended look at Grand Theft Auto 6 debuted back in August, we've heard fairly little from Rockstar Games about 2026's most anticipated video game. That all changed on Sept. 29, when Game Informer shared its 14-page deep dive into GTA 6. Highlights of the article included fresh details about the game's dynamic weather system, the intricacy of its NPCs, and six unique areas of the world map.
While there is surely more information to come in weeks heading up to the Nov. 19 launch, there are plenty of big questions about GTA 6 that we still have no concrete answers for. Here are a few that stand out. Cheat codes are a foundational element of the Grand Theft Auto series, as much as flashy cars and the Wanted level.
However, in all the preview interviews and footage we've seen so far, Rockstar has yet to officially confirm that cheat codes will return in GTA 6. There's good reason to suspect that they will return, though. Both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 included dozens of cheat codes, allowing you immediate access to stylish outfits, infinite ammo, and top-tier vehicles (or horses).
Enabling cheats in both games turned off achievements, but Red Dead 2 was a bit more strict in how it implemented cheats, essentially preventing them from being used to progress the main story campaign. Many of the best cheats needed to be unlocked by progressing Arthur's story and purchasing newspapers, and you could save your game while a cheat was active. Within the GTA fan community, there has been a longstanding theory that the next game in the series will have a secret playable character in addition to Jason and Lucia.
That would be in keeping with GTA 5's trio of Michael, Franklin, and Trevor, and the post-game scenario of Red Dead Redemption 2. Raul Bautista, who hires Jason and Lucia for a memorable car-chase sequence in the Netflix preview, has long been the fan-favorite pick for a potential third protagonist. But according to the information on Rockstar's official site, it sounds more like he's a mentor and client to the starring duo.
"Confidence, charm, and cunning — Raul’s a seasoned bank robber always on the hunt for talent ready to take the risks that bring the biggest rewards," his bio reads. "Raul's recklessness raises the stakes with every score. Sooner or later, his crew will have to double down or pull their chips from the table." While fans have speculated about a secret playable character ever since the first GTA 6 trailer debuted back in 2023, Rockstar recently confirmed the team had briefly considered having four protagonists, but those plans were scrapped early in development.
