The San Francisco 49ers' perfect start to the season came to an end in Week 7, as they lost to the Atlanta Falcons by a 29-20 final score. Although the 49ers lost their most recent game, they are still in a great spot. The 49ers are currently first in the NFC West with a 6-1 record.
Due to this, it is clear that they will be buyers ahead of the NFL trade deadline. One of the 49ers' top needs is another impactful wide receiver. They are now being connected to a top trade candidate from the New York Jets because of it.
Bleacher Report's Alex Kay predicted that the 49ers will acquire wide receiver Garrett Wilson from the Jets in exchange for a 2027 first-round pick and a 2027 fourth-round pick before the trade deadline. This would be a major move for the 49ers if it came to fruition. There is no question that the 49ers need help at the wide receiver position, so it would be significant if they landed a talent like Wilson before the trade deadline.
This would also be a high price to pay for the 49ers, though. However, with Wilson being right in his prime at 26 years old and a star, it could be worth it for San Francisco. In seven games this season with the Jets, Wilson has posted three touchdowns, 37 receptions, and 444 receiving yards.
He also had over 1,000 receiving yards in each season from 2022 to 2024. Thus, he has shown that he can be a difference maker, and it would be big if the 49ers could land him from New York because of it.
