'A truly historic moment': BBC reports from Hungary as Viktor Orbán concedes election

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has conceded defeat in the Hungarian election after 16 years in power, with the opposition securing a landslide election win. Péter Magyar is the country's new prime minister, after record numbers turned out for an election which was seen as pivotal to the future of Hungary and Europe. Magyar's party is set to win a massive majority in parliament.

Vote counting will continue in the coming days. The BBC's Rajini Vaidyanathan broadcast from outside Hungary's parliament as crowds heard about the prime minister's concession. Police released the CCTV footage after the art, which was stolen in March, was recovered.

Suspected crime boss Daniel Kinahan, one of the world's most wanted men, has spent his first night in custody in Ireland after being extradited from Dubai. Lawmakers and police officers had to intervene after Alliance party MP Time Kadrijaj hurled at least four eggs towards Kosovo's acting prime minister Albin Kurti. Sharif Ahmadzai has been charged with killing Elisabeth Ross, who was found dead in a suitcase in Athens in July.
