The young London band Alphabet have a sleek but atmospheric post-punk sound that really recalls some of the critical favorites of the '00s. They first landed on our radar with their single "Sense" earlier this year, and now they've followed it with "Into The Blur," a broody and itchy new track that somehow reminds me of both Interpol and Love Is All, two bands who don't really share anything in common other than the fact that they existed at the same time. Guitarist Tom Sullivan produced and mixed "Into The Blur," and singer/bassist Lena Pishofer did the artwork.
In a press release, Pishofer says, "'Into The Blur' is a memory of a period in my early 20s — a time when I was pretty unhappy but also felt very creatively alive. It’s about getting older and realizing you’ll never feel quite the same way again. I don’t necessarily want to go back to how it was, but I miss the freedom and not really knowing where life was going.
It’s about wanting to be there just once more." Check it out below.
