Fourth Wing went viral on BookTok in 2023, amassing fans all over the world. These thousands of avid readers are anticipating Amazon's adaptation of their favorite romantasy series. As more details come out, it's clear that it is close to leaving pre-production.
Recent reports provide details about its filming window and location, allowing fans to speculate about the real-world location that will become Navarre and Basgiath War College. Empyrean series fans have tried to keep themselves busy while waiting for the sequel to the third book in the series, Onyx Storm. Thankfully, Rebecca Yarros is a prolific writer, continuing to write contemporary fiction, a Fourth Wing graphic novel, and a spin-off called Threshing Day, so readers have plenty to choose from.
Additionally, many have also been closely following how Amazon's Fourth Wing series progresses. Not long ago, Amazon cast its lead actors, which was particularly exciting, as many were eager to find out who would be playing the two main characters in Fourth Wing. Esther McGregor (Babygirl, We Were Liars) will play Violet Sorrengail, and Emilio Sakraya (Warrior Nun) will take on the role of Xaden Riorson.
Although other cast members haven't been announced, casting should be completed soon, as it seems a shooting location and schedule have been set. The report comes from Hollywood North Buzz, a website that focuses on shows and movies filmed in British Columbia. Amazon's Fourth Wing is expected to begin filming on Apr. 5, 2027, in Vancouver, Canada.
It is unknown if shooting will occur in other locations, but filming in Vancouver will last seven months, coming to a close on Nov. 8, 2027. Everything we know so far about the Fourth Wing series points towards a 2028 release. If it enters post-production at the end of 2027, it is well possible.
The release date of the next Fourth Wing book is also a mystery, but hopefully it'll be out by the time the show becomes available on Prime Video.
