In her third season in the WNBA, Angel Reese is heading to her first WNBA Finals with the Atlanta Dream. Reese made it her goal to reach the Finals when she landed with the Dream this offseason, and she's already fulfilling that promise. Now, she hopes to attach "WNBA champion" to her résumé.
Her intentions were clear a whole year ago as Reese watched the WNBA semifinals happen from afar. The Chicago Sky didn't reach the playoffs in both seasons she was there, so she continued to dream (no pun intended) of playing in the postseason. On Oct. 10, 2025, Reese tweeted "manifesting the finals>>>." It's serendipity that the Dream swept the New York Liberty to reach the Finals on Oct. 9, 2026, almost an exact year later.
Fittingly, Reese quote tweeted her original post to add "364 DAYS LATER…" What a perfect full circle moment. Reese referenced her tweet during her post-game press conference on Friday night. The Dream narrowly won 85-83 over the Liberty in Game 3.
When I came to Atlanta, I knew that I was getting," Reese said. "This team has poured so much into me. We poured so much into each other.
I posted and tweeted [on] 10/10/25 that I was manifesting the Finals and this is my moment. I thank God for this moment. And I'm just so thankful." The Dream last appeared in the WNBA Finals 13 years ago when they lost to the Minnesota Lynx in 2013.
Atlanta has yet to win its first WNBA title, so Reese could lead her team to making franchise history this month. The Dream will face the Golden State Valkyries, who also swept their semifinals opponent, the reigning champion Las Vegas Aces. The best-of-seven series will begin on Saturday, Oct. 17 in San Francisco.
