Apple TV+’s hit sci-fi series Silo has finally begun to shed light on the story’s biggest mystery. Adapted from Hugh Howey’s book series, the post-apocalyptic show stars Rebecca Ferguson as an engineer who slowly begins to uncover the secrets of the underground silos that humankind has been relegated to. *Warning: major spoilers for Silo season three, episode seven to follow* In the latest episode of season three, “Radio,” the truth behind who created the massive underground structures is unearthed. The show continues its flashback storyline, following Congressman Daniel Keene (Ashley Zukerman) and journalist Helen Drew (Jessica Henwick) as they dig into dangerous geopolitical secrets involving tensions with Iran.
Picking up after their vehicle seemingly took on a life of its own and drove away with them, Daniel and Helen are met by Senator Thurman (Laura Innes), who introduces them to tech billionaire Per Stensen (Colin Hanks). Thurman tells them they will soon receive all the answers they’re looking for. After landing in Atlanta, Stensen informs them that they will take a helicopter to their final destination.
Helen questions where they’re headed, to which Stensen replies with a reference to one of his properties. It used to consist of 42 individual farms.” While they transfer from one aircraft to another, Daniel asks Thurman, “So this mysterious whatever-it-is on Georgia land — how much of it’s your idea and how much of it is his?” “He’s the brains,” Thurman says of Stensen. A perplexed Helen asks, “What the hell is that?” Thurman responds, nodding to Daniel, who she says knows what it is.

Although it’s not directly stated, it’s implied that the ongoing construction marks the beginning of the silos. The question of what happened to the world that forces humankind underground remains unanswered, but will likely be revealed in due time as the show has been renewed for a fourth and final season. New episodes of Silo season three premiere Fridays on Apple TV+, followed by the season finale September 4.
