Ascend Literary Management has signed Robb Cullen for representation, Variety has learned exclusively. Cullen continues to be repped by IAG and Jared Levine, Sabrina Padwa and Jonathan Leiter of Yorn Levine. Cullen most recently created the series “Average Joe.” The series originally launched on BET+ in 2023, while the second season will debut on Paramount+ on Aug. 19.

Deon Cole leads the cast of the series, which follows plumber Joe Washington (Cole) after he learns that his deceased father stole millions from the Russian mafia. Cullen is also an executive producer on the show. In addition to “Average Joe,” Cullen co-created the FX series “Lucky,” which starred John Corbett.

Cullen and his brother, Mark, received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for their work on the show’s pilot, which was directed by the Russo brothers of Marvel fame. Cullen’s other TV credit include the Spike TV animated series “Gary the Rat,” and “Heis,” “Mr. Robinson,” and “Las Vegas” for NBC.

He also co-wrote films like “Once Upon a Time in Venice” and “Cop Out,” both of which starred Bruce Willis. Cullen is currently developing projects for McG and Wonderland on a yet-to-be titled action drama. Ascend was founded earlier this year by Ian Greenstein.

Greenstein was previously at Innovative Artists Entertainment and before that spent over a decade at Gersh, where he led the agency’s TV department. He also spent over 10 years at Paradigm after the agency merged with Genesis, the boutique literary firm Greenstein co-founded in 2000.
