Correction to: Nature Neuroscience https://doi.org/10.1038/s41593-025-01972-9, published online 28 May 2025. Following publication, errors were identified in Fig. 3 during a post-publication review of the source images. In Fig. 3d, the Control panel was assembled from incorrect source images.

Its DAPI channel was inadvertently duplicated from the DAPI channel of the WAY-161503 (E12.5–E16.5) panel during figure preparation. The panel has therefore been regenerated in full from the original saline-treated control section, the same section shown in Fig. 3e and Fig. 3f. In Fig. 3i, the DAPI channel of the control hippocampus (IBA1) panel was inadvertently taken from the WAY-161503 hippocampus (GFAP) panel shown in Fig. 3h.

The panel has been replaced with a correct DAPI channel from a saline-treated control animal. Both errors occurred during figure assembly. The reported measurements were made from the original per-animal acquisitions for each experimental group rather than from the displayed representative images: the cortical layer analysis in Fig. 3d–f was performed on four-channel images cropped directly from each acquisition file, and the measurements in Fig. 3h,i were made on the marker channel of each acquisition.

No assembled display panel was an input to any reported value. Therefore, the quantification, as well as the results and conclusions of the article, are unaffected. The figure has been updated in the HTML and PDF versions of the article.
