Chicago Bears fans feared the worst when Caleb Williams went down Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. Scrambling to the left side of the line and evading oncoming defenders, Williams pulled up, slid to the ground, and appeared in serious pain with a non-contact injury. He was then helped off the field and carted into the locker room with what some feared could have been an Achilles tear.
Turns out, it was just a minor hamstring strain, and he might not even miss a game, though no firm timeline has been announced yet. Bears head coach Ben Johnson did, however, reveal that Williams won't practice in Week 3, leading many to assume that he'll likely miss Chicago's upcoming primetime matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on "Monday Night Football." It looks like Bagent is dealing with a concussion, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, and is now in the league's concussion protocol. That means that if he isn't cleared by Monday, the Bears will need to turn to 38-year-old veteran Case Keenum to lead the offense.

Bagent finished the game after Williams went down with the hamstring injury and looked fine. Expectations were that he would fill in until their franchise quarterback was ready to return, a role Bagent has had some success with in years past.
But if he isn't healthy either, Keenum remains the only quarterback left on the roster. Keenum is entering his second season with the Bears but didn't play at all in 2025. He also didn't see the field in 2024 while with the Texans, playing behind both C.J.
In fact, the last time Keenum played in a regular-season NFL game was in December 2023 during Houston's 36-22 loss to the Browns. In that game, he completed 11 of 17 passes for 62 yards and two interceptions. The Eagles are undefeated and have one of the scariest front sevens in football, headlined by Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, Nolan Smith Jr., Jalyx Hunt and Zack Baun. Chicago's offensive line will have its hands full with that group, and Keenum isn't exactly known for his mobility.
