It'll be at least one more week before Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams returns to action. Williams hasn't played since leaving the Bears' Week 2 loss versus the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth quarter due to a hamstring injury. The former No. 1 overall pick watched 38-year-old journeyman Case Keenum lead Chicago to a 27-7 upset over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3 on "Monday Night Football." Keenum finished the primetime victory 24-for-34 with 247 passing yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions for a 110.8 passer rating, while adding four rushing attempts for six yards and one touchdown.
Despite Keenum's heroics against the Eagles, Bears head coach Ben Johnson has been toying with both the New York Jets and the media by refusing to name who will be under center on Sunday versus Gang Green. It was reported Friday morning that 26-year-old fourth-year pro Tyson Bagent has been receiving first-team reps this week over Keenum. It was also reported Friday that the Jets will be shorthanded on offense, as star running back Breece Hall and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell have been ruled out for the contest in the Windy City.
Williams' next chance to suit up for the Bears will be in Week 5 when the Bears travel to face the division-rival Green Bay Packers.
