Bianna Golodryga, the global-affairs journalist who announced Thursday that she plans to leave CNN, is in talks that could have her working for two different news organizations at the same time. Golodrya, who recently has served as an anchor for CNN’s international service as well as a fill-in for both Christiane Amanpour and Fareed Zakaria at CNN, is in negotiations with both Politico, where she is in line cover global affairs and CBS News, where she could serve as a contributor, according to three people with knowledge of the discussions. These people caution that talks remain fluid and may not come to fruition.

Executives from CBS News and Politico could not be reached for immedate comment. If they do, however, Golodryga will have accomplished twice in one career something many cannot: an agreement that lets her work for two different news organizations at the same time. In a different era, such an arrangement was seen as unorthodox.

Now, in 2026, with more journalists striking deals that allow them to run their own independent newsletter or video podcast business while also working for a mainstream outlet, the structure may be more palatable. Golodryga has been with CNN since 2017, when she also worked two years as a contributor while she co-anchored “CBS This Morning” along with Gayle King, John Dickerson and Norah O’Donnell, and contributed to CBS News as well. I’m grateful for the experiences, friendships and support from fabulous colleagues during my CNN years.

Exciting news to share very soon!” One person familiar with the matter says the anchor realized she may have less room to expand at CNN now that the network is cutting back on the hours it once devoted to veteran international anchor Christiane Amanpour. Amanpour announced earlier this week she would leave CNN next year after nearly four decades in TV news at both the Skydance news giant as well as ABC News. Golodryga has proven willing to jump between traditional and non-traditional news jobs in the past.

Before joining CBS and CNN, she the news and finance anchor for Yahoo News and before that, co-anchored “Good Morning America’s” weekend edition while she also covered business news for ABC News. She began her career in television news in 2001 as a bureau producer from the New York Stock Exchange for the cable news channel, CNBC.
