UK-based audit, accountancy, tax and advisory practice Bishop Fleming has appointed Tom Ayerst as an advisory partner in its Bristol office. In the new role, Ayerst will head the Transaction Services team. He will oversee the expansion of the accountancy company's due diligence work, following recent appointments in Birmingham.
Additionally, he will be responsible for supporting businesses in the region, the advisory community and lower and mid-market private equity firms. Ayerst joins Bishop Fleming after more than 30 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), where he specialised in financial due diligence and transactions. Having begun his career in London, Ayerst later led PwC's regional Transaction Services and Deals business from Bristol.
In that role, he advised privately owned and mid-market companies, corporates and private equity investors. He also served as office senior partner for PwC's West region. Ayerst said: "Investor activity in the mid and lower mid-market in the South West is growing, and businesses and investors want experienced advisors who can provide valuable insights throughout a transaction.
"I am looking forward to building a strong team of regionally based due diligence specialists who will work closely with businesses and investors across the region." Ayerst's appointment makes him Bishop Fleming's 60th partner. It forms part of the company's wider investment in its people and expertise, with further partner appointments expected before the end of the year. Bishop Fleming partner and advisory head Charles Davey said: "Tom brings an exceptional depth of experience in financial due diligence and a strong understanding of the regional market, making him a significant addition to our growing advisory team.
"His appointment reflects our ambition to continue investing in our capabilities and people as we respond to increasing demand from businesses and investors across the lower mid-market. "Tom's experience, relationships and commitment to the region will be invaluable as we grow our due diligence offering and support more clients through transactions." In July, Bishop Fleming added Jack Edmonds as partner and Julie Mole as director in the accountancy team at its Birmingham office. "Bishop Fleming appoints new advisory partner in Bristol" was originally created and published by International Accounting Bulletin, a GlobalData owned brand.
