The Atlanta Braves are going to be a very interesting team to watch during the offseason. After losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the playoffs, the Braves should be looking to add new talent to their roster during this offseason. One specific area that they could look to improve is their infield.
Due to this, the Braves are now being predicted to swing a blockbuster trade for a young star from the Baltimore Orioles. In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Zachary D. Rymer predicted that the Braves will trade for Orioles star infielder Gunnar Henderson this offseason.
"We did say big swings, right? And truth be told, there may not be a better time than this winter for the Baltimore Orioles to trade Gunnar Henderson," Rymer wrote. "If the Braves don't already have Henderson on their radar, they should.
Their shortstop position has been unsettled for years, and it stands to be wide-open once Ha-Seong Kim and Mauricio Dubón file for free agency." With the Braves needing an upgrade at the shortstop position, it would make sense if they targeted Henderson. He would be a significant addition to their roster if acquired, as he has shown during his career that he can be a star when playing at his best. Henderson appeared in 158 games this season with the Orioles, where he had 24 home runs, 60 RBI, and a .226 batting average.
This marked the third time in four seasons that Henderson has hit at least 24 home runs. This included his All-Star season in 2024, as he finished that campaign with a career-high 37 home runs. With numbers like these, Henderson would be a fascinating player for the Braves to add.
It will be interesting to see if the Braves target the 25-year-old this offseason from here.
