The New York Giants took the field for a joint practice with the Miami Dolphins on Thursday. After the joint session, Giants linebacker Brian Burns was vocally pleased about his defense's "dominant" performance against the Dolphins. The [Dolphins] are not our team.
So, when you have an opportunity to hit them, you hit them," Burns said. "But I let it be known, we don't wait to get punched in the mouth." While Burns acknowledges that there's still room for improvement, he feels the Giants defense is fully ready for its regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 13. "We're going to be ready to go," he said.
"There's a lot of things that we can learn from this tape. Although I feel like it was a dominant day, there’s still a lot of growing that we can definitely capitalize off of. I definitely think we're ready for Week 1." Giants head coach John Harbaugh described his team's pass rush against the Dolphins as "ferocious" on Thursday.
"That's practice, so you’ve got to come do it in the game," Harbaugh said. "But I was impressed with it." The Giants and Dolphins will kickoff their preseason matchup at 4 p.m.
