Bryan Adams loves Canada and has, shall we say, somewhat less positive feelings towards Donald Trump. The Canadian singer-songwriter, an Ontario native, has not one but two Trump diss tracks on his forthcoming album How's It Goin'. The first, "51st State," was a rebuke to Trump's efforts to annex Canada into the United States of America that Adams decided to release on Canada Day, naturally.

The second, which Adams shared yesterday, is called "Lake Ontario." Trump has, for some reason, become obsessed with renaming bodies of water. Last year, he signed an executive order changing the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America." Earlier this year, he followed that up with another executive order renaming Lake Ontario to "Lake America." More recently, he's even floated the idea of renaming the Atlantic Ocean the "American Ocean" or "Trump Ocean," although Google apparently pushed back on that one. Bryan Adams is pushing back too, through the medium of song.

"Empires and regimes, dictators and kings, they all come and go. Lake Ontario is forever," Adams says in an statement. "This is a song for all the sane people on both shores who know that the current madness will pass, and that Lake Ontario will always be Lake Ontario." Here's a sample of the lyrics: From glacial erosion - to indigenous careFrom European exploration - to industrial wear and tearThe “lake of shining waters” is what the Iroquois called herIt’s a first nations name - not an executive orderBut things weren’t going his way in IranSo like a baby tossing the toys from the pramHe may have thought it best to throw a low blowAnd create a real dog and pony showBut it feels like another distractionWhile the Epstein files were getting tractionOne day they’ll come out and we’ll say “there you go”And then we’ll all dive into Lake Ontario After centuries of trade and warPeople settled down on the banks and shoresAll rivalries and conflicts - had all but ceasedBut it just took one dude to break that peace
