Philipps had just finished meeting with Robert and Michelle King, the creators of “Cupertino,” about the series and was getting ready to head to a fashion show when she found out about the mass and was told she needed a follow-up MRI immediately.

The tumor was an oligodendroglioma, a malignant tumor defined by two genetic alterations.
