Cam Ward Explains How Titans’ Offense Can Improve for NFL Season

Cam Ward is dedicated to helping the Tennessee Titans improve in the coming season and shared his thoughts on how the team could make strides after last season's losing record. According to Ward, the biggest improvement would be for him and the Titans' receivers "connecting on deep plays." "We didn't get a certain number of shots that we get to take each and every game because the defenses are so good, so when we get to play downfield, myself, and the receivers, we have to make that play," told reporters. "They're gonna do their job by you know, tagging, and making the plays, so I think that's what's left for us, and once we solve that, we'll be a pretty good offense," Ward stated.

His longest pass was 47 yards throughout the campaign. He got some time on the field in Sunday night's 19-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks, throwing for 69 yards on 8 of 12 completions.

Heading into his sophomore season, he can look forward to connecting on deep passes to exciting new rookie receiver Carnell Tate, a former Ohio State Buckeyes standout. In addition, Wan'Dale Robinson and Calvin Ridley return as part of the Titans' receiving corps. The projection for Tennessee's total wins this season was 6.5, with neither the over nor the under favored, per Fox Sports.

That suggests Ward and the Titans could have a unexpected breakout season, unless the offense continues to struggle to connect. Anything above last season's three wins would be a significant step in the right direction, but most likely Ward wants to propel this team to better things such as an NFL Playoffs appearance. They wrap up the preseason with a game against the Chicago Bears on Saturday, Aug. 29.
