Cardinals Get Brutal Injury Update on Paris Johnson Jr

Arizona Cardinals offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr. suffered a season-ending bicep tear against the New York Giants on Sunday.

The Arizona Cardinals failed to build on what was a strong performance against division rivals the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3 and lost 36-24 against the Jaxson Dart-less New York Giants in Week 4. To make matters worse, left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. was injured on the final drive of the game against the Giants. And per tests on Monday, it was revealed that the former sixth overall pick has torn his biceps and will miss the rest of the season, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"A big loss: Cardinals HC Mike LaFleur said LT Paris Johnson Jr. tore his bicep and now will be out for the season." Schefter posted on X on Oct.5. Heading into the penultimate year of his rookie deal after the Cardinals exercised his fifth year option this offseason, Johnson was expected to sign a multi-million dollar extension in the coming months – and potentially weeks. That will likely be put on the backburner as the 25 year old looks to recover and rehab over the ensuing months in order to preserve his ability to play for years to come.

Johnson had also had an excellent start to the 2026 season and was in line to potentially receive the first Pro Bowl nod of his career prior to his devastating injury. Pro Football Focus graded his play at 76.3 – 10th amongst all qualifying offensive tackles. With the Ohio State alum gone, the Cardinals will turn to either rookie seventh round pick Jayden Williams, who started the last few snaps in Johnson's stead post-injury, or 2025 undrafted free agent Josh Fryar.
