The Los Angeles Clippers suddenly parted ways with all-time great franchise point guard Chris Paul in the middle of his farewell-tour season in 2025-26. Paul shared a social media post in the middle of the night revealing that the Clippers sent him home from Atlanta, where the team was scheduled to play against the Hawks. During a recent appearance on the "Build or Break" podcast, Paul called this moment the "most disrespectful" thing he's ever gone through.
"Obviously I was upset, but my family, my people, like everybody. I think just because of the investment we made in the team for as long as we have, and to see the way stuff was handled. "It lets you know that, no matter what you do, or what you’ve done, nobody cares.” Paul spent six seasons with the Clippers from 2011-17, becoming the franchise's all-time assists leader.
He re-signed with the franchise on a one-year deal prior to the 2025-26 season, intending to finish his NBA career in Los Angeles. The Clippers are now embroiled in a controversy involving the past signing of Kawhi Leonard. Earlier this week, the NBA levied a series of massive punishments on the franchise after an investigation found them in violation of the league's salary cap circumvention rules.
