Leading U.S. commercial bank Citigroup (NYSE: $C) says it plans to offer Bitcoin (CRYPTO: $BTC) custody to its institutional clients by year's end. The move by Citigroup will bring crypto into the same infrastructure the bank uses to safeguard traditional assets for institutional investors that include pensions and hedge funds. Crypto custody is the secure storage and management of the private cryptographic keys required to access, own, and transfer digital assets on a blockchain.

The service, which does not yet have a set launch date, will start with Bitcoin and provide clients access to traditional and crypto custody through the same framework.
