Clarkson’s Farm fans will remember Harriet Cowan as series four’s breakout star, who appeared to ruffle the feathers of Diddly Squat farmhand Kaleb Cooper when Jeremy Clarkson brought her in as his temporary replacement. Now, Cowan has revealed that Cooper wasn’t just playing up his annoyance with her for the cameras. The young farmer, 25, opened up about her first meeting with Cooper in a new interview, admitting that he was “p***** off” by her presence on the farm.
Cowan appeared in several episodes of Clarkson’s Farm – the ex Top Gear presenter’s hit show about his attempts to run a 1,000-acre farm in the Cotswolds – last year, having been drafted in from Derbyshire by Clarkson while Cooper was away on his book tour. When Cooper returns, it’s clear he isn’t too pleased by someone else farming on his land. Speaking about the moment in a new interview with The Telegraph, Cowan told the publication that he “really was frosty” when he returned from his book tour.
And I’m not going to lie, he was. But it wasn’t because of me as a person, or me as a woman. It was because he’d been away for so long on a tour bus,” she said.
Eight weeks driving around, not with family, or being on a tractor. Then you come home and find out someone else has been doing your job? I’d be p***** off.” The pair have buried the hatchet since, with Cowan revealing that they’re “great” now.
The air cleared completely and we’ve worked together loads. We realised we’re both just farmers, and now we’re great friends,” she continued. As for her future on the show, Cowan said that she has no plans to return, but is open to it despite having just bought her own farm.
