The Dallas Cowboys are set to face off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their Week 5 matchup on Thursday night. The Cowboys are entering this game with momentum, as they won their most recent game against the Houston Texans 34-30. However, as Dallas prepares for their matchup against the Buccaneers, they have now gotten some bad news regarding cornerback Joey Porter Jr.
According to ESPN's Ian Rapoport, Porter has been ruled out for the Cowboys' matchup against the Buccaneers due to illness. This is certainly a tough blow for the Cowboys, as Porter is a new addition and expected to be an important part of their roster. However, with this update, he unfortunately will not be in the lineup for Dallas against the Buccaneers.
Porter made his Cowboys debut in their last game against the Texans. This was after the Cowboys acquired him from the Pittsburgh Steelers late last month in exchange for a 2028 second-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick. In 48 career NFL games over four seasons, Porter has posted three interceptions and 165 combined tackles.
It will be interesting to see how much of an impact he can make for Dallas once he recovers from his illness. Yet, for now, he will be sidelined against the Buccaneers.
