The Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers have made some pretty significant deals over the past two offseasons. Micah Parsons, after an entire offseason of back-and-forth, was traded from the former to the latter in exchange for two first-round picks and an all-world defensive tackle. Rashan Gary, the man we will be talking about today, was traded from the latter to the former in exchange for a late-round pick.
If that weird way of describing those trades was too confusing, just take a look at what each team acquired from each other over the last two offseasons. Green Bay Packers- EDGE Micah Parsons- 2027 4th Dallas Cowboys- EDGE Rashan Gary- DT Kenny Clark- 2026 1st- 2027 1st I don’t have to tell you which package has the best player, but it is important to note that the 2026 first-round pick turned into rookie defensive lineman Malachi Lawrence and the 2027 first-round pick was used to acquire defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. I’ll say it: one guy could swing those trades in favor of Jerry Jones: Height: 6' 5"Weight: 277lbsAge: 28Contract: 2yr, $32M2025: 16 G, 7.5 SK, 7.0 TFL, 45 TKL, 20 QBH Parsons is the best player that has been mentioned, but there’s only one of him.
Gary, Williams, Clark, and Lawrence have collectively replaced him, helping turn a one-man wrecking crew into one of the most exciting defenses in football entering this season alongside rookie safety Caleb Downs, veteran pass-rusher Von Miller, linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, and cornerback DaRon Bland. If they’re going to be better, though, they’ll need huge contributions from Gary. The Cowboys have always been turnover forcing machines, but a lot of that production came from the havoc caused by Parsons – who had 330 quarterback pressures, 52.5 sacks, and 63 tackles for loss from 2021-2024.
If they can replace even half of those pressures with Gary, along with the increased production from newcomers Williams, Clark, and Lawrence, they’re undoubtedly going to be better. Parsons is going to make $46.5 million in 2026. Gary and Williams will collectively make $51 million, so if they can match his production alone, the moves we’ve mentioned are smart business by Jones.
