The Centrist Reform Alliance (CRA) is moving toward a disbandment, with lawmakers who were previously members of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan (CDP) set to form a new party while those from Komeito return to their original party. CRA leader Junya Ogawa and other executives agreed Tuesday to a plan under which almost all CRA lawmakers will depart. But the party will temporarily retain a single member to settle its finances and wind down its local branches before disbanding altogether.

The party is expected to formally approve the plan Wednesday, following a meeting of its lawmakers and a separate one of its extraordinary executive scheduled in the afternoon.
