Made Fresh Salads Inc., based in Bay Shore, New York, has recalled all of its ready-to-eat deli-style salads and cream cheese products after environmental testing by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) found Listeria monocytogenes in parts of its production facility. Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in young children, older adults, people with weakened immune systems and pregnant women.
While healthy people may experience symptoms such as fever, headache, nausea and diarrhea, infections can also lead to miscarriages and stillbirths. No illnesses linked to the products have been reported so far. The recalled items were sent to retailers and distributors across New York City, and include dozens of deli salads, seafood salads, pasta salads and flavoured cream cheeses sold under the Made Fresh Salads and Northside brands.
The products carried expiration dates between September 3 and September 18, 2026, and some may have been repackaged by retailers into different containers. Production and distribution have been halted while the company and the FDA continue investigating the source of the contamination. Consumers are being advised to return affected products to the place of purchase for a full refund.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
