The Los Angeles Rams are off to a 1-2 start after the Denver Broncos staged a late-game comeback to win their clash, 30-26 on Sunday night. It was a game where the Rams dominated offensively, racking up over 482 yards of offense, and had the ball for 34:29. However, it came down to a final fourth-quarter drive with quarterback Bo Nix scrambling to score a heroic rushing touchdown with under a minute remaining.
Rams wide receiver Davante Adams was locked up in a battle with one of the league's best cornerbacks, Patrick Surtain II, throughout the matchup. While he didn't score any of his team's touchdowns, Adams still had a big game, tallying 137 receiving yards on seven receptions, including a 49-yard catch. Vikings Following the disappointing loss, he reacted to his team's start to the season, which included a loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Australia. "It's nothing to freak out about, man. It's a lot of football left, it's not like we not playing good ball," Adams told reporters from the locker room.
"Based on our situation, this league is about wins and losses, so there's a lot that we can take from a game like this and feel good about, but there's no moral victories." The Rams receiver said he'd need to review film of Sunday night's game to get a better read on what they could improve on for their next game, but suggested it would come down to getting back to practice this week and executing better. Adams indicated he felt the Rams are playing good football, "excluding that first game" against the 49ers, which they lost 27-7 in Australia. In that game, the 49ers outplayed them, as the Rams possessed the ball less than their opponent struggled to convert on third downs, and failed to convert two red-zone attempts.
Everything looked good for the Rams in the first half on Sunday night, as they were up 16-0 at halftime. Denver matched the Rams' point total in a 16-0 third quarter, then kept up with the Rams' scoring in the final quarter. On the final drive, Nix heroically led his team to their first win of the season, making the Broncos' record 1-2.
They'll have a chance to bounce back with a win on Sunday, Oct. 4, at the Philadelphia Eagles, but they've struggled in away games so far this season.
