The 53rd Daytime Emmys are underway at Hollywood’s historic Palladium theatre. CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” leads all programs with 18 nods this year, followed by new CBS soap opera “Beyond the Gates” — which In its first year of eligibility scored 15 nominations The Daytime Emmys recognizes daytime dramas, talk series, entertainment news, culinary, adventure, instructional and legal/courtroom programming — and for the 53rd edition, that covers an eligibility calendar of Jan. 1, 2025 to Dec. 31, 2025. This year’s Daytime Emmys nominations come after serveral rule changes were announced this spring.
Allen Media Group founder, chairman and CEO Byron Allen, host/executive producer Meredith Vieira, performer Patrika Darbo and actor/director/executive producer Francesca James are this year’s Gold Circle inductees, while Fox Television Stations exec VP of programming and development Stephen Brown and announcer/warm-up host Rubin Ervin are Silver Circle inductees. Among the records that potentially could be broken, “The Bold and the Beautiful” star Heather Tom is in line to win her seventh Daytime Emmy, which would give her the most wins by an actress in daytime history. As it now stands, “The Bold and the Beautiful” star is tied with Erika Slezak (“One Life to Live”) at six each.
Variety‘s “Actors on Actors” has received two Daytime Emmy nominations this year, both in the outstanding arts and popular culture program category. That includes a nod for series’ spring 2025 run, which was geared toward the TV awards season and ran on PBS SoCal as “Variety Studio: Actors on Actors.” The show then moved to CNN’s streaming platform for its film-centric fall 2025 edition, “Variety & CNN Actors on Actors,” which received the other nomination. There’s no host this year, but Matthew Hoffman served as announcer.
Formerly held in June, the Daytime Emmys moved to mid-fall last year; the 2026 event took place as a single ceremony on Friday. The telecast is being streamed this year on YouTube; watch here
