DK Metcalf Throws Shade at Sauce Gardner Before Steelers-Colts Clash

The Steelers receiver gave quite the petty response when asked about facing Sauce Gardner on Sunday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and Indianapolis Colts face each other on Sunday, but one of the biggest matchups to watch in the game will be between Steelers receiver DK Metcalf and Colts cornerback Sauce Gardner. Pittsburgh's top receiver will be facing Indianapolis's arguably best defender. Metcalf doesn't seem too worried about matching up against the 2022 Defensive Rookie of the Year.

He's already smack talking his opponent, too, in a pretty petty way. Here's what he said about Gardner in the locker room this weekend: "What do you have to be mindful of when you go up against a guy like Sauce Gardner?" a reporter asked Metcalf. "Win my matchup," Metcalf said regarding what he has to be mindful of when he faces a defensive back.

"I don't worry about what a DB does well. They gotta guard me." If Gardner sees this clip before the game, there's a good chance he'll use it as fuel to stop any passes Aaron Rodgers throws Metcalf's way. It sounds like Metcalf wants the difficult competition, though.

But, will he overcome Gardner's excellence? The receiver still has a lot to prove with the Steelers. He's caught 16 passes for 213 yards and one touchdown through the first four games of the season.

Last season, his first in Pittsburgh, he recorded a career-low 850 yards. He's hoping to make this year more memorable. Metcalf and the Steelers arguably have more to lose on Sunday as they're coming off a disappointing 27-24 loss to AFC North rivals, the Cleveland Browns, in one of the most embarrassing performances from Rodgers in quite some time.

The Steelers sit at 2-2 and want to get back on the winning side of things. The Colts are also 2-2 after starting the season 0-2. Indianapolis will look to continue their winning streak against a shaky Steelers team.
