Earlier this month, Doechii revived Swamp Sessions, the extremely cool video series that she launched before the release of her star-making 2024 mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal. The Swamp Session videos were all short, cinematic, eye-grabbing clips for the energetic songs that later appeared on that tape. These days, Doechii is working on what's being billed as her debut album, and we already posted a Swamp Session clip for a new song called "Bomb." Last night, she dropped another one.
Doechii co-directed her new two-minute "Catwoman" video with Carlos Acosta, and we don't know whether it's the full song or an excerpt or what. (It's not on streaming yet.) The clip opens with Doechii posing in a desert mountain landscape, rapping hard and emphatically over a tingly boom-bap beat. Then, something dramatic happens. See it for yourself below.
I've seen pop stars do this gimmick when introducing their new personas before, but I don't think I've ever seen it rendered quite so vividly.
