On Tuesday, a Philadelphia Eagles legend retired, as Lane Johnson officially ended his 14-season career with the team he began with in 2013 and won two Super Bowl championships with. And with that, he left a significant void on the Eagles' offensive line for pass protection, which could be a significant concern for Jalen Hurts. According to sports podcaster Emmanuel Acho, who had a brief NFL stint with the Eagles, Hurts is about to "be in hell" after losing his valuable teammate.
"Jalen Hurts is about to be in hell without Lane Johnson! ... We have overlooked an abundance of Jalen Hurts' flaws because he's winning. But if Jalen Hurts is no longer a winner because Lane Johnson is no longer present, then what can Jalen Hurts stand on?" Acho said, sounding off during his podcast.
"If Jalen Hurts loses Lane Johnson, he loses his ability to win, because he's 7-10 without Lane Johnson. Welcome to hell," he said. "Jalen Hurts is about to be in an abundance of chaos.

Acho ended by questioning whether Hurts is about to be criticized more for a lack of other skills on the field. Johnson shared a statement on X calling it an "incredibly difficult" decision to retire from the NFL. He said he'd considered "gutting it out" for another season, but owed it to his team to "have his head and heart 100% in the game," and said his "personal and family priorities" had changed.
Ahead of Johnson's retirement news, the Eagles had fallen to the Los Angeles Rams at home, 24-20. Johnson was a surprise inactive for that game due to personal reasons, and his absence may have been an early warning sign for the Eagles about that position. Hurts was sacked four times in that game, with last year's Defensive Player of the Year, Myles Garrett, not even playing.
Rams outside linebacker Byron Young accounted for 2.5 of the sacks, with Omar Speights recording one and Kamren Kinchens getting a half-sack in the game.
