Eagles WR DeVonta Smith Gives Promising Update on Week 6 Status

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith continues to trend in the right direction.

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith has been working his way back from a hamstring injury that has kept him sidelined for the past two weeks. However, the star wide receiver recently provided a very promising update on his Week 6 status. According to Tim McManus of ESPN, Smith said "I'm good" when asked about his hamstring on Friday and added that whether he plays Sunday is "up to the doctors." That would certainly be great news for the Eagles offense with quarterback Jalen Hurts already ruled out with a blood clot, and running back Saquon Barkley likely to join him in due time.

Smith's status has taken a turn for the better over the past couple of days. After it was reported that Smith was a non-participant during the team's practice on Thursday, the team later upgraded him to a limited participant. Of course, that doesn't guarantee that Smith will be on the field come Sunday, but he has surely been trending in the right direction.

A return by Smith would give the Eagles offense some much-needed reinforcements. They have been relying on wide receivers Darius Cooper, Dontayvion Wicks and Makai Lemon with Smith out. Smith recorded 19 catches for 235 yards and one touchdown before suffering his hamstring injury.

The Eagles are scheduled to face the Carolina Panthers in Week 6 with a 1 p.m.
