The Green Bay Packers are reeling from another late meltdown to start the 2026 season. After squandering an 18-point lead to the Chicago Bears in the playoffs, the Packers again stumbled down the stretch against an NFC North foe. Green Bay allowed 22 unanswered fourth-quarter points in a 39-22 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
ESPN's Dan Orlovsky has some serious concerns about the Packers after their Week 1 loss. "Significant red flag for me," Orlovsky said Monday on "The Pat McAfee Show." "You can't close out games, and your offensive line is getting absolutely destroyed. Jordan Love will not make (it through) this season if the offensive line is going to play that way.
He will not make the year." Love got sacked four times and took 15 hits in Sunday's loss. The pressure prompted the quarterback to lose a fumble that the Vikings quickly turned into a touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Orlovsky felt the Packers led most of the game only because of their quarterback, who registered 387 yards and two touchdowns on the road.
The former NFL quarterback is worried about Love staying healthy if Green Bay can't protect him. "He made six just outrageous throws against all odds type of situations," Orlovsky said. "That offensive line is not going to keep him upright and on the field unless they get a lot better quickly." Orlovsky criticized an "undisciplined" performance from a Packers defense that committed nine penalties, but he thinks they can clean up those mistakes.
He's "way more concerned" about their offensive line. "The offensive line was not good enough," Orlovsky said. "It was an issue last year.
