Fans yearning to drive like Dominic Toretto or Letty can finally strap into a Dodge Charger or a Toyota Supra at Universal Studios Hollywood, as the long-awaited “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift” ride officially opened Sept. 16 at the park. The much-anticipated outdoor roller coaster features four iconic cars from the $7 billion franchise — the Dodge Charger, Mazda RX-7, Nissan Skyline GT-R and the Toyota Supra — that propel riders on a “unique dual-launching, split-ride track,” according to Universal Studios Hollywood. The cars spiral over and under portions of the park’s multilevel escalator, and include four launches, an inverted dive loop, twisted pretzel loop, an inverted stall and other thrills, reaching speed of 72 mph.
Riders experience force of up to 3.6 Gs along 4,100 feet of aerial track constructed with sound-reduction technology while drifting at 360-degrees in their individual ride vehicles, according to Universal Studios Hollywood.
