The New York Giants hosted veteran free-agent running back Najee Harris for a workout on Monday. Apparently, Harris did enough to prove himself as a worthy option for the Giants — signing a one-year deal with the franchise on Tuesday. Harris suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in Week 3 of his 2025 campaign with the Los Angeles Chargers.
He played those three games under head coach Jim Harbaugh in Los Angeles. And now, he joins John Harbaugh for his first season as head coach in New York. Before his severely-limited 2025 season with the Chargers, Harris spent his first four professional seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
There, the former first-round pick surpassed 1,000 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns in each of his campaigns. "He's coming back from the Achilles injury with my brother. He looks good in the workout," Harbaugh said of Harris' workout on Monday.
"He's not back 100%, he's not in football shape yet. If we are able to do something, it'll be a process. That would be a guy that has a lot of experience.
He's a decorated vet." The Giants will open up their 2026 regular-season schedule with a Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 13.
