To experience what is considered the true ending in Phantom Blade Zero, you must have completed the following quests: These are all secondary quests, and not mandatory to progress the campaign. However, if you don't finish them before reaching the peak of Mount Soulrend, you won't unlock the true ending. We suggest focusing on completing these quests before entering the Mirage State area in Pangzhen.
Completing the "Secrets at the Heart of the Lake" first is the best option, as it unlocks an area where you will find a Lóng Pillar for the "Bloodline Awakening" quest, and a few treasures for Zhang. Before you complete these missions, you must have certain items. First, complete the "Illusory Pipa" side quest to receive the Illusory Pipa weapon.
Next, progress in the campaign to obtain the Flame Mane phantom edge. Once you have it, you must unlock both the Crimson Manor and the Mountain of Imprisonment, to obtain the two Crystal Puppet Eyes. After completing these quests, you'll just need to proceed with the main quest and head to the peak of Mount Soulrend to start the true ending.
For the "Bloodline Awakening" side quest, you need to destroy five Lóng Pillars. When you interact with one, you'll battle the Gold-Masked One. The further you progress through the game, the harder these fights become.
Losing is not an option, as you must win the duels to destroy the pillars. Here's where you will find each pillar and the nearest bell to teleport: While backtracking to most of these pillars is relatively fast as there are bells nearby, you should try to destroy the one inside the Four Guardians' Mirror dimension before advancing into the area, since you can't teleport using the bells inside the Phantom Illusionist Ruins. To complete the "Secrets at the Heart of the Lake" side quest, you must collect the four Acolyte masks and take them to the mirror on the northwest side of Meigu Lake.
