TIME and Statista have launched the 2026 list of Best Employers, based on independent employee surveys conducted in countries around the world. In India, Statista gathered 760,000 evaluations from employees across a wide range of sectors. These surveys asked open-ended questions about employees’ willingness to recommend their own employer and their willingness to recommend other employers in the same industry.
The top 500 employers, ranked based on these results, were named India's Best Employers 2026. The top-ranked employer in the country is GSK India, the subsidiary of the U.K.-based pharmaceutical giant. The company’s 2026 profits have been up as a result of sustained demand for its prescription medicines, vaccines, and consumer healthcare products.
It’s planning to strengthen its portfolio with new specialty cancer drugs such as Jemperli and Zejula. Deloitte India projects that India’s pharmaceutical sector will become a $130 billion market by 2030. India is one of the biggest pharmaceutical manufacturers in the world, exporting to over 190 countries.
According to India’s government, pharma is one of the top 10 industries attracting foreign investment into the country. To grow its talent pool, GSK India has early career programs such as the xCEL Trainee Program for graduates and initiatives like the GSK Scholars Programme, which aims to support students pursuing STEM education in the country.
