Indiana Fever star Aliyah Boston undergoes successful knee surgery, raising questions about her recovery timeline.

The Indiana Fever have announced a significant injury update involving one of their biggest stars following the conclusion of the 2026 WNBA season. Four-time All-Star Aliyah Boston underwent successful surgery Wednesday to repair the lateral meniscus in her right knee, the organization announced Thursday. The procedure comes just two weeks after Indiana's season ended with a playoff loss to the Las Vegas Aces.

According to the Fever, Boston underwent a right knee arthroscopy performed by Dr. Corey Kendall at OrthoIndy. The organization confirmed that the 24-year-old will begin rehabilitation under the supervision of Indiana's medical and performance staff.

However, the team did not provide a timetable for her recovery or indicate whether the procedure could affect her availability for the start of the 2027 season. The announcement brings a new development to an offseason that will be important for the Fever as they look to build on another playoff appearance. Boston has established herself as one of the WNBA's most productive young frontcourt players since Indiana selected her with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 draft.

The former South Carolina standout has earned an All-Star selection in each of her first four seasons, becoming a cornerstone of the franchise alongside fellow former No. 1 pick Caitlin Clark. Despite dealing with a right leg injury during the second half of the season, Boston remained one of Indiana's most consistent contributors. She appeared in 40 regular-season games in 2026, averaging 16.1 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 52.8% from the field.

Boston also expanded her offensive game, connecting on a career-best 40.6% of her three-point attempts. Her development as an outside shooter gave the Fever another offensive weapon and created additional space for Clark and the team's perimeter players. However, concerns about Boston's health emerged during the summer.

In a July matchup against the Seattle Storm, the veteran center suffered a right leg injury after falling hard to the court. Boston was unable to return to that contest, although she eventually resumed playing and remained an important part of Indiana's rotation. However, the Fever have not publicly established whether Wednesday's procedure was directly related to that incident.
