The Jacksonville Jaguars have made a roster move just over three weeks prior to their season opener against the Cleveland Browns on Sep. 13. Jacksonville have decided to cut defensive tackle Quinton Bohanna and have replaced him with second-year offensive lineman Timothy McKay, per Aaron Wilson. "Jaguars terminated contract of Quinton Bohanna", Wilson reported in dramatic fashion.
The corresponding move saw McKay join the 90-man roster, which will inevitably be cut down to 53 on Aug. 30. Bohanna signed with the Jaguars back during OTAs on June 1. Having originally been selected in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Kentucky grad's career started fairly well.
He started 9 games his sophomore season in Dallas before the additions of nose tackles Johnathan Hankins and Mazi Smith rendered him surplus to requirements in Arlington, Texas, before the start of the 2023 season. After spending the next few years bouncing between teams, starting a cumulative three games from 2023-2025, Bohanna eventually ended up in Jacksonville – and it seems that now he will have to search for a new team. For McKay, this is not exactly a big shift.
The second-year undrafted free agent out of NC State was waived by the team back on Aug. 17, and now three days later is back with the organization. At this point McKay may struggle to find his way onto the final 53-man roster, but he will certainly be happy to once again be part of training camp with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
