Next Tuesday, Amy Winehouse's classic breakout album Back To Black will celebrate its 20th anniversary, and there's already a lot of hullabaloo around it, as you'd expect. Today, Variety reports that veteran Broadway producer Catherine Schreiber is developing an Amy Winehouse musical for London's West End. (The biopic didn't work, but who knows, maybe this will.) And on Tuesday night, Back To Black producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi led an all-star Back To Black tribute at London's Roundhouse. At the Roundhouse show, Ronson and Remi joined a group of Amy Winehouse's stylistic descendants to cover every song from Back To Black.
Corinne Bailey Rae sang the title track. Yabba did "Love Is A Losing Game." Lianne La Havas took on "You Know I'm No Good." Jorja Smith belted out "Some Unholy War." The London girl group FLO delivered their version of "He Can Only Hold Her," and "Rehab" duties went to Jessie Reyez. At the end of the night, all of the artists got together onstage for a group singalong of "Valerie," the Zutons song that Winehouse turned into a hit.
The BBC will broadcast the tribute show on its YouTube channel Saturday evening, and it'll air Oct. 26 on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds. But since there were people in the crowd with phones, so you can already watch some lower-quality videos from the show below.
