Super-Bowl-winning quarterback Aaron Rodgers is entering the last dance of his NFL career, as he heads into the new season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen spoke with SiriusXM's Adam Schein from "Mad Dog Sports Radio," where he didn't hesitate to give Rodgers his flowers as one "of the all-time greats, if not the all-time great." "Like you said, I think he's also the greatest thrower of the football. I still think he can spin the rock with the best of them.
He's in a league of his own. He's so fun to watch," Allen said. "I've gotten to develop a relationship with him the last few years and am excited to see him," the Bills QB also said, reiterating, "One of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time." Still, it would be a stretch to call him the "greatest of all-time" as Allen initially did. He's won one Super Bowl ring with Mike McCarthy during their time with the Green Bay Packers. By comparison, legend Tom Brady achieved seven Super Bowl rings: six with the New England Patriots and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
It's hard to put any quarterback above that level when it comes to greatness. Heading into the final season, Rodgers also sits fifth all-time in career passing yards with 66,274, which is right below another Green Bay Packers legend, Brett Favre. Rodgers is unlikely to tally enough yards in the final season to move above him.
Topping the all-time passing yards list is Brady, who threw for 89,214 yards before retiring several years ago. Still, Allen certainly realizes how much Rodgers has done in his career, though, and the impact he'll have left on the NFL. The Bills' QB will get to see Rodgers at Thursday night's Bills-Steelers preseason game on the NFL Network.
The two superstars won't start in the game, but should be on the sidelines. They also won't meet in the regular season. Depending on how the two teams fare with their records in the AFC, a postseason matchup is entirely possible.
