After nearly a month with the Phoenix Mercury, superstar Kelsey Plum is finally going to make her home debut at the PHX Arena on Tuesday against the Washington Mystics. Plum joined the Mercury at the trade deadline at the beginning of August after the Los Angeles Sparks traded her. In exchange for five-time WNBA All-Star guard, the Sparks received guard Monique Akoa Makani, a 2027 first-round draft pick and a 2028 second-round draft pick.
Since joining Phoenix, Plum has played in just four games. She missed three consecutive games with a lower leg injury but has reportedly been cleared to play on Tuesday. Plum did not play in the postseason last year, as the Sparks have not competed in a postseason since 2020.
And now, Plum will miss a second straight playoff run in her first season with the Mercury. Phoenix has posted a 13-24 record, which ranks 11th in the WNBA. The Mercury were eliminated from playoff contention over the weekend after a 97-87 loss to the Atlanta Dream on Saturday.
Plum and the Mercury have just seven regular season games left on the 2026 schedule.
