Jared Goff is entering his sixth season as quarterback for the Detroit Lions, looking to further his reputation as one of the league's best passers. Goff has more than 4,500 passing yards in each of the last three seasons, completing 67.9% of his pass attempts over the course of his career in Detroit. Dan Campbell had a lot of great things to say about his quarterback during a recent interview with Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.
The Lions head coach compared Goff to all-time great NFL quarterback Drew Brees, who was just recognized as a first-ballot Hall of Famer. "His processing speed reminds me of [Drew] Brees. And every year it’s gotten faster and faster," Campbell said of Goff.
"And then watch him under duress. Nobody makes a more accurate throw under duress than Jared Goff.” Goff later explained how he processes defenses as quarterback of the Lions' offensive scheme. And I think my feet, being able to, again, move through progressions quickly with my feet is about as good as I’ve ever been.
Accuracy, I’ve always been pretty accurate, but that’s improving, too.” The Lions will begin their 2026 season with a Week 1 matchup against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 13.
