Lindsey Burrow and Amy Garcia will travel 80 miles across Yorkshire.

The wife of rugby league legend Rob Burrow will join BBC Look North presenter Amy Garcia for this year's Children in Need charity challenge. Lindsey Burrow and Amy plan to push the programme's red sofa 80 miles (129km) across Yorkshire over five days, covering 12-20 miles each day. The pair will start at Ripon on Monday 9 November and pass through South Yorkshire before crossing the finish line in Wakefield on Friday 13 November.

Their efforts will be broadcast live along the route. Last year, they raised tens of thousands of pounds on a three-legged walk for BBC Children in Need. "We'll take the sofa out of the Look North studio and try to push it 80 miles across Yorkshire with a specially-designed trolley," Amy said.

"We're going to visit dozens of towns and villages and we'll attempt to scale some of the region's highest peaks, including the famous Holme Moss climb." They will also make stops at Children in Need-funded projects along the way to see how they are supporting children and young people in the region. Lindsey has also run several marathons in memory of her late husband, who died in 2024, four and half years after his diagnosis of motor neurone disease. She said she was expecting the sofa push to be one of her toughest challenges yet.

"We did a test push for about 500 yards and it's a lot harder than I expected. "I think it's going to be a real challenge, to say the least. "I like to take part in fundraising, and to be able to support Children in Need with the incredible work that they do and support the charities, is just really special." It is not the first time the studio's red sofa has been out on the road.

In 2018, Amy took part in the Big 50 Sofa Challenge with the late Harry Gration and weather presenter Paul Hudson, in aid of Sport Relief. "It's going to be a slog, the sofa is heavier than in 2018, but it's such an incredible opportunity to meet our viewers." She said she was also looking forward to taking on a challenge again with Lindsey after the pair walked 30 miles across Yorkshire with their legs tied together in 2025 for the Children in Need Three-Legged Challenge. "Lindsey and I are both mums and we are passionate about trying to help other children who don't get the same opportunities." 9 November - Ripon to Knaresborough (via Harrogate) 10 November - Sprotbrough to Conisbrough (via Mexborough) 11 November - Strines to Sheffield (via Worrall) 12 November - Meltham to Holme Moss (via Holmfirth) 13 November - Morley to Wakefield (via Ossett) Details of how to donate and show your support for the Children in Need 2026 challenge will be revealed in the coming weeks.
