Production is now underway for the third season of Netflix's The Gentlemen, and with it comes a host of new casting announcements. Guy Ritchie's action-comedy-crime drama starring Theo James is adding a host of famous faces, including not one but two members of The Fellowship of the Ring. Netflix announced that Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom are among the new cast members for season 3.
Wood and Bloom are most famous for their roles as Frodo Baggins and Legolas, respectively, in Peter Jackson's sprawling Lord of the Rings film trilogy. Both reprised their roles in The Hobbit movies, though they were in different entries and therefore did not share the screen. The Gentlemen will mark the first time the two have worked together since The Lord of the Rings trilogy concluded with 2003's The Return of the King.
The other big name joining the cast for season 3 is Robert Carlyle. The Scottish actor is perhaps best known for his appearance in Trainspotting, but has also starred in some beloved television shows like Once Upon a Time and Stargate: Universe. The second season of The Gentlemen was released this September, which means you might have to wait a while for season 3.
There was a two-year gap between the first two seasons, meaning the show likely won't return until 2028. Warner Bros. has confirmed that a Lord of the Rings spinoff movie titled The Hunt for Gollum is currently in production, with Andy Serkis attached to direct. Serkis will also reprise his role as the titular character in a story that follows Aragorn's mission to capture him and gain information on the One Ring.
Elijah Wood is confirmed to return as Frodo once again, and Ian McKellen will be back as Gandalf. Aragorn, however, will be played by Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Grey), taking over from Viggo Mortensen. The cast also includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Kate Winslet, and Leo Woodall.
The film is slated for a Dec. 17, 2027 release. Before that, Tolkien fans will be able to watch the next season of Amazon's Rings of Power in just a couple of weeks when it premieres on Nov. 11.
