Macklemore Criticizes ICE As He Launches 'Free Palestine' Tour

The concert was Macklemore's first since he was dropped from Ed Sheeran's tour.

Macklemore has returned to the stage for the first time since he was dropped as Ed Sheeran's support act over his pro-Palestinian comments. Videos shared online show the 43-year-old rapper telling the Colorado audience at the first gig of his 'Free Palestine' tour on Thursday night, "I say free Palestine. To all the people that are affected by ICE in America who are afraid to leave their houses." A screen behind him showed the widely shared message on the Israeli-Hamas conflict: "Rest in peace to the martyrs of Palestine, whose lives awakened the hearts of the world.

May we honor them with courage and action. What the world has seen must not be unseen." Macklemore was removed from Sheeran's tour in September after he told a Boston crowd: “I wanted to stand up on here on stages and stadiums across America and say two words that are very near and dear to my heart: Free Palestine.” Macklemore is set to be joined by other artists supportive of the Palestinian cause on his four-stop tour that also takes in Dublin, Paris and London over the next week. This is a developing story; more to follow.
