The Dallas Mavericks selected Cooper Flagg with their No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. And following his Rookie of the Year campaign in 2025-26, he's already living up to the hype as the franchise's newest centerpiece. Flagg is clearly happy with his situation as he heads into his second NBA campaign.
During Mavericks media day, the 19-year-old rising superstar hinted that he hopes to spend the rest of his professional career in Dallas. There’s not much to complain about. I wish it would cool down a little bit, it’s been a very hot summer.
That’s my only complaint," Flagg told reporters. "And you know what, if that’s what I complain about in the place I live for the rest of my life, I have worse things to worry about.” While this is an encouraging statement for Mavericks fans, things can always change in a heartbeat. Luka Doncic consistently expressed his desire to play in Dallas for his entire NBA career, but the franchise ultimately traded him away to the Los Angeles Lakers midway through the 2024-25 season.
Flagg averaged 21 points, 6.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.9 blocks per game in his debut NBA campaign.
