Micah Parsons Gives Blunt Response Over Missing Cowboys Revenge Game

Micah Parsons explains why he’s sitting out the Packers’ Week 6 game versus Cowboys and what it would take for him to play.

Lambeau Field hosts the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6, and the star they shipped away after a bitter contract fight won’t be suiting up. Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons hasn’t practiced since tearing his ACL last December, an injury that also damaged his meniscus, and he’s still on the team’s physically unable to perform list. He used his podcast, “The Edge with Micah Parsons,” to shoot down the revenge storyline.

Parsons said fans built up the matchup far more than he did. I just need two healthy knees to do what I love to do.” Readiness isn’t the issue, according to Parsons. Avoiding an overcompensation injury is the real goal, he explained.

Medical clearance still hasn’t come, according to Packers coach Matt LaFleur. Surgery followed the Dec. 14 injury on Dec. 29, leaving him roughly 9½ months into recovery. Green Bay generally sidelines ACL patients for a minimum of nine months.

The Packers landed him in 2025, sending three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark and first-round picks in 2026 and 2027 to Dallas. Parsons then inked a four-year, $186 million extension. His 14 games before the injury produced 12.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and 41 combined tackles, plus a third All-Pro selection and a fifth trip to the Pro Bowl.

Without him, Green Bay ranks fifth league-wide in passing yards allowed at 181.0 per game, though its run defense sits in a tie for 24th. At 3-2, the Packers enter after routing the Chicago Bears 31-7, while the Cowboys sit at 2-3 following a 24-16 home loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
