Neurosis will embark on a handful of dates this fall in support of their celebrated comeback album, An Undying Love for a Burning World. In addition to the band’s previously announced gigs in San Francisco, the group added dates in Brooklyn, Chicago, Portland, Oregon, Seattle, Boston, and L.A. The Boston gig is part of Converge’s Saddest Day festival and will see the band playing alongside Converge, Cave In, and others.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, though San Francisco’s gigs are already sold out. Full details are on the band’s website, which also lists the support acts at each gig. The concerts will variously feature Uniform, Primitive Man, Great Falls, and others opening for the group.
The gigs follow the band’s performance at the Fire in the Mountains festival this past July; the group’s Steve Von Till is a member of the Firekeeper Alliance, which has close ties with the festival, and strives to decrease the suicide rate among indigenous youths through teaching them about heavy metal. The concert marked the first gig they played with Sumac vocalist-guitarist Aaron Turner, who previously played in Isis, as a member of the band. In addition to several songs from An Undying Love for a Burning World, Neurosis performed selections from Times of Grace, A Sun That Never Sets, and Enemy of the Sun at that concert.
They played a similar set in Asheville, North Carolina earlier this month. While at Fire in the Mountains, filmmaker Bobby Cochran shot a short film that features members of the Blackfeet Nation and the songs “We Are Torn Wide Open” and “Mirror Deep,” off the new album.
