New Report Sheds Light on Jets HC Aaron Glenn's Hot Seat Amid 2-5 Start

NFL insiders revealed whether head coach Aaron Glenn is expected to receive more time to turn around the New York Jets.

Aaron Glenn's job security is under scrutiny after the New York Jets fell to 2-5 with a home loss to the previously winless Miami Dolphins. Anyone anticipating an imminent change may have to wait. ESPN's Dan Graziano reported that Glenn will likely get to coach out the rest of the 2026 season before the Jets decide whether to bring him back for a third year.

Although the Jets fired Robert Saleh with a 2-3 record in 2024, Graziano doesn't sense that owner Woody Johnson wants to repeat history with Glenn. "Ownership likes Glenn and wants to be proved right about him being a good head coach," Graziano wrote. Jeremy Fowler also said that the Jets will give Glenn a chance to oversee in-season improvement.

Yet that doesn't mean he's ultimately safe. "My sense after asking around to those in the industry who closely follow such things is that Glenn likely will get some time to attempt to right the ship, but the hot seat conversation is real, and this job is on the radar for potential change at some point," Fowler wrote. Both NFL insiders noted Glenn's clock-management struggles, and the No. 23 offense hasn't made significant strides.

Glenn doesn't need to make the playoffs to keep his job, but he must prove he's the right long-term fit for a young team that could use one of next year's three first-round picks to find a new franchise quarterback. "What the Jets want to have established by the end of this season is at least a foundation of a winning culture and an environment in which a young quarterback would be in position to quickly thrive and be happy," Graziano said. "It's hard to look at the Jets right now and think they're on either one of those tracks.

There is time to turn it around, but if it keeps going the way it has so far, this is absolutely a situation we'll be watching for a potential change."
